Shrove Tuesday Intergenerational Worship
At 6:00 p.m. we will have an Intergenerational Shrove Tuesday/Ash Wednesday 20 minute service led by the Rev. Susan Nanny. It will be an opportunity to receive ashes in a liturgy that is accessible to all ages. Pancakes will be provided before the service and after the service. (Note: At this service the church will be darkened and we will have laser lights, glitter, and beauty.)
ASH WEDNESDAY
HOLY EUCHARIST & IMPOSITION OF ASHES February 17th, Noon AND 7:30 P.M.
The Rev. Dan Smith, Canon to the Ordinary will be the celebrant and preacher. There will be music at the 7:30 service only. The imposition of ashes is a reminder of our mortality and a sign of our repentance as we enter the Holy Season of Lent.
LENT ONE
Bishop's Visitation, February 21st.
9:00 a.m. Bishop's Forum
One service only at 10:00 a.m.
Followed by reception
This year the first Sunday of Lent coincides with the bishop's regular visitation this year. The bishop is the chief pastor of our diocese and a reminder of our connection with the larger church, in the US and throughout the world. The bishop's visit is one of the recommended days for baptism and is an opportunity for Confirmation (an adult reaffirmation of baptismal promises.) Although there are no baptisms or confirmations scheduled, we will rehearse our baptismal promises, a good way to enter into the season of Lent.
