The vision:

Children and adults, parishioners and neighbors getting exercise, safe
locally grown food and flowers, enjoying nature and the earth. We have
canvassed our neighbors and have a growing group of gardeners and three
Garden leaders. Gardens are quite small in our neighborhood and many
people live in flats, so community garden offers the St Louis
Hills and Southhampton neighbors a place to be creative
gardeners.
The
Location:
The new garden will be bordered by the church, the alley
between
Clifton and Locke and the Proehl Center (former rectory). It gets a
good amount of sunshine per day, is south facing and sheltered.
The church will provide tool storage, some shared tools and
water. Gardeners are expected to tend their own beds and keep them
watered and to share responsibility for the common areas (like borders
of garden and paths between beds.)
The plan for the proposed garden, made up of 4 x 12 foot
raised beds is here:
The garden will have its organizational
meeting in January. If you would like a bed, or to share a bed, please
contact the church as soon as possible and we will get back to you . We
hope to construct at least one bed which tall enough to be accessible
for people in wheel chairs or who have trouble bending. You can click
on the plan to see it in a larger size.
